Description

The anterior arterial system refers to the network of arteries located at the front of the body, primarily supplying blood to the head, neck, and upper limbs. The main artery of the anterior system is the aorta, which arises from the heart’s left ventricle and branches into several smaller arteries, such as the brachiocephalic trunk, left common carotid artery, and left subclavian artery. These arteries supply oxygenated blood to the brain, face, neck, shoulders, arms, and chest. The anterior arterial system also includes smaller branches, such as the internal thoracic artery, which supplies blood to the chest muscles, and the anterior intercostal arteries, which supply blood to the spaces between the ribs.
